On January 17 this year, the Tai Po High School Student Speaking Platform held a Tai Po District High School Student Assembly at the Tai Po Waterfront Park. The vice chairman of the People’s Forces “Quabi” Tan Dezhi was accused of attending the rally and appealing to participate in a demonstration held on Hong Kong Island two days later but opposed by the police. Six months later, Tan Dezhi was arrested today (17th) and taken to Fanling Magistracy for trial.
The defendant Tan Dezhi (48 years old) was charged with one count of “inciting others to participate in an unapproved assembly.” The case was adjourned to September 25, during which the defendant was allowed to provide a cash guarantee of 100,000 yuan, not to leave Hong Kong and to report to the police station every week.
It was reported that the radio host Tan Dezhi was charged with illegally inciting other unknown people to participate in an unauthorized public procession without legal authority at the Tai Po Waterfront Park Amphitheater on January 17 this year. The prosecution applied to adjourn the case for 10 weeks to obtain legal advice and cooperate with the police in further investigations, which was approved by Chief Magistrate Su Wenlong.
